A personal campaign

My ears are tuned to burn when they hear the term ' see' used lazily. In the hope you might see what I mean here is today's example:
A BBC photo caption:
Residents of Bangkok are braced for a weekend that could see Thailand's worst flooding in decades hit the capital.
My suggestion:
Residents of Bangkok brace themselves for a weekend when the worst flooding in decades could hit Thailand's capital
In local paper:
The steep site, currently used to graze sheep, would see homes laid out in a series....
My suggestion:
Where sheep now graze on the steep site, homes would be laid out in a series....
